Accessibility

This accessibility statement applies to www.worldweatherattribution.org

This website is run by Imperial College London. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet (opens in a new tab) has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Some older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • The publications section filter has missing fieldsets which may be confusing for a screen reader.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Imperial College London is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 (opens in a new tab) AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Some of the older content has images alt descriptions that are longer than recommended. Newer content has short and accurate alt descriptions.

Images contain text and complex data which is difficult to explain in words. For new content, we will create more accurate and descriptive figure captions.

Not all links are descriptive, i.e. it is not always clear where the link is going to. All new links will be descriptive.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

Some of our  PDFs are not currently accessible, mainly those created in Word. We will do what we can to ensure new PDFs are accessible, however, as World Weather Attribution is not currently funded and all work is carried out on a voluntary basis, we may not have the resources to test all documentation. Links to file types that could be difficult for users of assistive technology will be clearly marked as such.
